Earle's experience includes leading Australia's historic First Arctic Expedition, supported by Patron HRH The Prince of Wales (now King Charles III). Earle was also Director of the Tall Ship's Spectacular that launched Australia's Bicentenary year in 1988, offically opened by the Prime Minister. It remains the largest staged event in Victoria's history.

A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society for 40 years, his lifetime of helping others includes saving the lives of 15 people on expeditions.

He is also an acclaimed author and portrait photographer.
